HOW IT HAPPENED
- With the dual starting at 174 pounds, Christian Chavez opened the night with an 8-1 decision over Navid Ighani to give West Liberty the early 3-0 advantage. Chavez recorded a pair of takedowns to go along with an escape and the riding time point to earn the win.
- One of the nation's most dominant wrestlers and the No. 1 wrestler in the 184 pound weight class, Ty McGeary secured his tenth pin of the season with a win by fall in 2:11 after tallying a pair of takedowns in the opening minutes of the bout.
- Fairmont State was able to get on the board with a win by decision at 197 pounds as Mason Christian fell in a 4-2 decision to Dwayne Johnson. Johnson's takedown in the opening period was enough to secure the win as Christian was only able to notch two escapes with one in the first and another in the second.
- In his final home dual of his collegiate career, No. 2 Francesco Borsellino earned a win by forfeit at 285 to extend the Hilltopper lead to 15-3.
- At 125 pounds, Alexander Crane was able to add another tally to the win column for the Black & Gold with a 6-2 win by decision over Brandan Myers. Crane scored on takedowns in the second and third periods.
- Also celebrating senior night in his final dual competition inside the ASRC with his return to the mat for the first time since the Hilltopper Duals, Vincent Scollo recorded a 15-0 win by tech fall (7:00) over Jasup Spragg at 133 pounds. Scollo racked up the near fall points in the match after his first and only takedown in the first period. He scored on a 2-point near fall, a pair of 3-point near falls, and a 4-point near fall before picking up his final point with riding time at the end of the match.
- Khyvon Grace added to the bonus point victories with a 16-5 major decision win over Ryan Martin at 141 pounds. Entering the third period with a 7-5 advantage, Grace chose to start on the bottom and proceeded to score on a reversal and added to his lead with a 4-point and 2-point near fall to go along with the riding time point.
- No. 6 Nico Taddy's quick paced attack fared well in the 149 pound bout as he notched a 19-4 win by tech fall (1:27) over Esdras Castillo in the opening period. He collected five takedowns in the match and added a pair of 2-point near falls to secure the bonus point win.
- Armon Nettey got the nod in the 157 pound weight class and kept the momentum rolling for the Hilltoppers as a 14-8 win by decision over Trace Ragland pushed the dual score to 35-3. After holding a 3-0 lead entering the second period, the action picked up once again as the wrestlers traded reversals following a takedown by Ragland, however Nettey maintained a 10-6 advantage entering the third. Another reversal for Ragland brought the scoring margin within two, but Nettey secured the win with an escape and takedown to close the match.
- Alec Cook closed the night with the Hilltoppers' third tech fall of the dual in an 18-1 (5:42) win over Nick Kelbaugh. An early takedown and a 2-point near fall set the tone for Cook in the first period and he went on to end the match with two more takedowns, a reversal, and a 4-point near fall.
