West Liberty, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's basketball team will step outside Mountain East Conference play on Friday as they head to Tiffin, Ohio, for a 5:30 p.m. matchup against the Tiffin University Dragons.
The Hilltoppers (5-6, 3-2 MEC) are coming off a thrilling 80-78 road victory over West Virginia State. In that game, Karli Anker delivered a standout performance with a game-high 23 points, including six three-pointers, and grabbed 11 rebounds. Bailee Smith also shined, contributing 19 points and sinking five triples.
Smith is on the verge of a major milestone; with just 17 more points, the junior guard from Roseville, Ohio, will become the 39th player in program history to score 1,000 career points. She enters Friday's contest with 983 career points.
Tiffin (5-4, 1-2 GMAC) comes into the game with momentum after a 77-64 victory over Cedarville on Monday. The Dragons will look to defend their home court in the Gillmor Student Center, where they've been strong this season.
Historically, Tiffin holds a slight edge over West Liberty, leading the all-time series 3-4. However, the Hilltoppers claimed a decisive 79-66 win in the most recent meeting on December 18, 2022, at West Liberty's ASRC.
