Fairmont, W.Va. - Hunter Patterson's huge day was not enough as the West Liberty University football team fell 36-35 to Fairmont State.
Patterson scored four times on the ground, tying the record for second most in a game in WLU history while also rushing for a season-high 210 yards, he also caught two passes for 49 yards.
Thanks to three first half touchdowns from HP, the Toppers led 21-17 at the break.
A 35 yard pick-six from Kendarius Frazier in the third quarter and Patterson's fourth score of the game gave West Liberty a 35-20 lead heading into the fourth quarter. The Falcons would respond with 16 points in the fourth to take the one point lead.
