Hilltopper Football Travels To Fairmont State

West Liberty, W.Va. - The West Liberty University football team travels to Fairmont State Saturday for a match up with the Fighting Falcons.The Hilltoppers enter the game at 2-7 overall and 2-5 in the Mountain East Conference, FSU is 5-4 overall and 4-3 in the MEC. The Falcons won last year's meeting 42-29 at West Family Stadium. This will be the 9oth meeting all-time between the programs with Fairmont holding a 44-40-5 advantage, the Toppers have won two of the last three. 

The Falcons offense has the number one passer in the conference in Nino Marzullo he averages 251.1 yards per game and the number two rusher in the MEC in Dereik Crosby II who averages 97.4 yards a contest. Their leading receiver is Gage Michael, fourth best in the MEC at 68.7 yards a game, he leads the conference in total receptions with 50. 

On the Hilltoppers side running back Hunter Patterson is fifth best in the Mountain East Conference with 77.6 yards per game on the ground. Patterson leads the MEC in yards per carry at 6.6 and is fifth in rushing yards with 621. Receiver Ben Turner is tied for second in the MEC in yards per game at 78.1 and receiving yards at 703. 

Defensively Trent Crawford is third in the MEC in tfl with 13 and seventh in tackles with 60. Crawford leads the conference in forced fumbles with five. Delano Marcelus is fourth in the MEC in sacks with five, Taison Fa'Asuamanu and Zach Vincenti are tied for sixth with 3.5. 

As a team the Falcons average 33.8 points per game, the Hilltoppers average 20. The Falcons are allowing 32 points per game and the Toppers 40.6.
