Salem, W.Va. – Behind a scorching 33-point performance from Bailee Smith, including eight three-pointers, the West Liberty University women's basketball team secured its third consecutive victory, defeating Salem 88-76 on Tuesday night.
The Hilltoppers set the tone early, leading 23-18 after the first quarter. However, Salem made a quick 4-0 run to start the second, narrowing the gap to 23-22. West Liberty responded with a strong 19-12 surge to end the half, carrying a 42-34 advantage into the locker room.
Smith was unstoppable in the first half, pouring in 18 points and knocking down five triples. The team collectively sank nine three-pointers in the half, with Karli Anker contributing 10 points, including two treys.
The third quarter was closely contested, and Salem managed to cut into the lead. However, a buzzer-beating half-court shot from Anna Lucarelli gave the Hilltoppers a crucial 58-55 edge heading into the final frame.
West Liberty dominated the fourth quarter, extending their lead to double digits at 65-55 after Smith drained her seventh three-pointer. The Hilltoppers maintained control to secure the 88-76 victory.

With the win, West Liberty improves to 3-4 on the season. They'll look to continue their winning streak on Dec. 4 when they travel to face West Virginia Wesleyan.
