West Liberty, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's basketball team is seeking their third consecutive victory as they head to Salem for a Tuesday evening matchup.
The Hilltoppers have momentum following back-to-back wins last week. They claimed a 91-85 triumph over Ohio Dominican, powered by Karli Anker's impressive 29-point performance, including seven three-pointers. On Saturday, WLU opened Mountain East Conference play with a 75-66 win against Point Park. Jenna Riccardo shined with a double-double, scoring 21 points and grabbing 14 rebounds, while Anker added 18 points.
Last season, the Hilltoppers dominated their home meeting against Salem with a 97-73 victory. Bailee Smith had 20 points and five assists, while Riccardo contributed 14 points and seven rebounds. However, their trip to Salem required overtime, where WLU edged out a 74-68 win. Smith recorded 17 points and five assists, and Riccardo chipped in 10 points and six rebounds.
WLU holds a commanding 37-15 advantage in the all-time series. Salem enters the matchup winless at 0-6, most recently falling 66-49 to Wheeling.
