West Liberty, W.Va. – The No. 7-ranked West Liberty University men's basketball team hits the road for the first time this season, traveling to Salem for a Tuesday evening showdown.
The Hilltoppers are off to a perfect 5-0 start, including a 1-0 record in Mountain East Conference play. On Saturday, they held off Point Park in an 88-80 victory at the ASRC. Finley Woodward led the scoring with 18 points, followed by Kyler D'Augustino with 17. Lanyc Shuler and JJ Harper each tallied 15 points, while Dante Spadafora added 12.
Historically, the Hilltoppers trail Salem in the all-time series, 63-66. However, West Liberty has dominated recent matchups, winning the last eight games.
Last season, WLU defeated Salem 112-76 at home, with D'Augustino scoring 17 points and Spadafora adding 15. In their road victory at Salem, the Hilltoppers rolled to a 111-82 win, including 15 points from Spadafora and 13 from D'Augustino.
Salem enters Tuesday's game at 1-4 on the season, narrowly losing 75-74 to Wheeling in their most recent outing.
