West Liberty, W.Va. - The West Liberty University men's basketball team won their Mountain East Conference opener Saturday 88-80 over Point Park at the ASRC.Â
The Hilltoppers never trailed in the game as they improved to 5-0 overall. WLU led 43-34 at the half and they extended their lead to 18 early in the second half, but a strong Pioneers performance on the boards kept the game close.Â
Point's Nazareth Fisher led all scorers with 30 points and 22 rebounds.Â
The Toppers had five players finish in double-figures paced by Finley Woodward and his 18. Kyler D'Augustino added 17, JJ Harper and Lanyc Shuler each had 15 and Dante Spadafora added 12.Â
The Hilltoppers forced 25 Point Park turnovers and turned those into 28 points.Â
