West Liberty, W.Va. - The No.17 West Liberty University men's basketball team hosts Shepherd Saturday at 2 p.m inside the ASRC.
The Toppers are off to a 2-0 start after taking both games of the Atlantic Regional Crossover against West Chester and Bluefield State.
West Liberty and Shepherd have met 150 times, it's the fifth longest series in WLU history with the Toppers leading 97-53. The most recent meeting was on Nov. 11, 2022, a Hilltoppers 91-68 win at the ASRC.
West Liberty junior Finley Woodward is this season's first Mountain East Conference player of the week. In the Toppers' first two games he averaged 17 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists.
West Liberty is averaging 113 ppg and is shooting 50 % from the floor, 33 % on three-point attempts and 77 % from the free throw line.
Dante Spadafora is closing in on 200 career three-pointers, he currently has 196. Seger Bonifant is the school's all-time leader with 374.
The Hilltoppers have won 128 of their last 135 games at the ASRC.
