HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Hilltoppers tallied a pair of corner kick opportunities in the first half. The first was set up by Zachary Forehand racing the UC defense down the field and having the ball poked away at the last moment in the 13th minute. The corner kick was short towards the near post and headed out by Charleston. The second, in the 39th minute, was set up by WLU making an attempt to get around the corner of the defense on a throw-in, and the corner attempt was batted away by the Golden Eagles' Marc Torrado in goal.
  • The Golden Eagles scored the game-winning goal in the 51st minute by Giorgos Diakos. West Liberty's Noah Underwood made a diving save to knock the original shot attempt away by Joao Belmudes, however Diakos was directly in front of the net to grab the deflection and score the goal.
  • Charleston held the advantage in the match in shots (23-0), shots-on-goal (7-0), and corner kicks (9-2), while West Liberty held the edge in saves (6-0).
