West Liberty, W.Va. – The West Liberty women's soccer team saw four players score twice as the Hilltoppers cruised to a record breaking 13-0 win over Salem on Sunday afternoon at the West Family Athletic Complex. The Hilltoppers broke six program records in the win with their largest margin of victory and most goals, assists, points, shots, and shots-on-goal in a single-game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Morgan Kost started the scoring in the sixth minute of play as she collected the ricochet off the right post from Amelia Compston's shot and placed the ball into the left side of the net off her left foot. Kost added her second goal of the game in the 13th minute to push the lead to 2-0, following a scramble for the ball in front of the net before she pushed it past the Salem goalkeeper.
- Compston, West Liberty's leading goal scorer entering the match, got into the action with a goal in the 20th minute as Ellinor Jansson sent a pass over the heads of the defense and found Compston in the open field who placed the ball in the right corner of the net.
- Asia Espiritu scored the final two goals of the first half for the Hilltoppers, first scoring in the 34th minute when she led a breakaway down the field and regained control after originally having the ball knocked away by the Tiger goalie. Her second goal came off a corner kick set in the 43rd minute, she played the ball short to Rileigh Gualtiere before getting it right back and firing a shot into the top left corner over the outstretched hands of the keeper.
- Katie Farley scored the first goal of the second half for the Black & Gold in the 58th minute grabbing the ball back off a deflection and beating the defender around the corner to put the ball past the goalkeeper on the nearside post to make the score 6-0.
- Mia Zecca added a goal in the 72nd minute, her second of the season, stealing the ball away from the Tiger defender and firing a shot into the top right corner of the net.
- Isabella Aperfine tallied her first goal of the season in the 74th minute, collecting a pass from Zecca in the box and quickly turning around placing a shot into the right side of the net through a pair of defenders.
- Ellie Cunningham added a pair of goals in the 77th and 79th minutes for West Liberty to reach double figures. First scoring off an assist from Kristin Berger whose pass led her past the defense, and next on an assist from Farley who drew the defense to the left side of the box before passing the ball off to Cunningham who was open directly in front of the net.
- Maya Taggart received credit for goal 11 for the Hilltoppers, whose pass into the box got deflected into the net from a Salem defender.
- Farley scored her second goal of the game in the 84th minute, outpacing a pair of Tiger defenders to a pass from Kate Gribben and putting the ball into the left side of the net.
- WLU's final goal of the match came from Gualtiere who scored her first goal of the season off Farley's second assist of the afternoon. Farley's pass led Gualtiere into open space on the left side of the box before she fired a shot into the top left corner of the net past the keeper.
- West Liberty's 33 points, 13 goals, and 52 shots are all the most by an MEC school this year and their seven assists tied for the most in the league this season. The Hilltoppers' eight second half goals are tied for the most by an MEC school all-time in a half, the 13 goals are the second most all-time, the 52 shots are third all-time, and the 33 points are fourth all-time in a single-game.
- Farley's six points are the most by a player in the conference this season, and her two assists are tied for the league high. The two goals by Farley, Kost, Cunningham, and Espiritu are tied for the most in the MEC this season.
- West Liberty held the advantage in shots (52-1), shots-on-goal (30-1), and corner kicks (7-0). Salem held the advantage in saves (17-1).
