WASHINGTON, Pa. – The West Liberty University women's tennis team gutted out a crucial 4-3 victory against West Virginia State here Wednesday afternoon at Washington Park.

The win kept Coach Heather Gallagher's Hilltoppers (11-3, 5-0) unbeaten in Mountain East Conference play while handing the Yellowjackets (6-6, 3-2) their second loss in league action. State's only other MEC loss came at the hands of No. 20-ranked Charleston, the MEC's only other unbeaten team.

The West Liberty women continued their strong play in the doubles matches. Emma Arnal and Gemma Cliffe rolled to a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles while Evelina Martirosyan and Ishika Agarwal clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles.

Martirosyan, the reigning MEC Player of the Week, delivered a clutch 6-3 7-5 straight-set win at No. 1 singles after Arnal had come up big with a dominant 6-2 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles. With Agarwal making short work of her opponent in No. 6 singles via a 6-1 6-1 rout, the Hilltoppers had another MEC win in their pocket.

The West Liberty women return to Washington Park on Saturday to host a strong Slippery Rock (Pa.) squad in a noon match with significant regional implications before closing out their MEC slate at Charleston on April 12.
