Wheeling, W.Va. – The West Liberty University men's soccer team battled to their second consecutive draw to end the regular season on Wednesday night with a 1-1 tie at Wheeling. After a scoreless first half the Hilltoppers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 60
th minute before the Cardinals tied the match once again less than ten minutes later.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- West Liberty broke the scoreless tie with an unassisted goal from Rhys Lewis in the 60th minute. Lewis intercepted a pass from a Wheeling defender and immediately fired a shot from roughly 35 yards out that went over the outstretched hands of the keeper and into the top right corner of the net.
- The Hilltopper lead only lasted eight minutes as the Cardinals knotted the score back up at one apiece in the 68th minute with a goal from Jon-Micheal Gordan. Johannes Haugerud retrieved a deflected shot in the right half of the box and quickly passed the ball to a cutting Gordan, who then placed the ball into the bottom left corner of the net from the top of the six yard box.
- West Liberty held the advantage in shots (15-9) and corner kicks (5-4) while the teams were even in both shots-on-goal (4-4) and saves (3-3).
