West Liberty, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw with Glenville State on Wednesday evening. The Hilltoppers struck quickly, only five minutes into the match and held that advantage up until 5:18 remained in the contest when the Pioneers evened the score at one.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- West Liberty opened the scoring in the match in the 6th minute as Morgan Kost's shot attempt was slowed down by Abigail Morales in goal for Glenville State. The shot attempt continued to slowly roll towards the goal before Morales dove to try and tap the ball out, however Isabella Aperfine charged the goal and pushed it into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.
- It wasn't until the 85th minute that the Pioneers were able to tie the match at one goal apiece. The GSU offensive attack was able to beat the Hilltopper defense down the field and a cross pass into the box from Aitana Viejo found Hannah Hill who placed the ball into the top corner of the net.
- West Liberty held the advantage in shots (16-11) and shots-on-goal (7-4), while Glenville State held the edge in corner kicks (3-1) and saves (6-3).
- The Hilltoppers have held the advantage in shots and shots-on-goal in three and four matches respectively.
- Aperfine's goal was WLU's fourth of the year that was scored within the first ten minutes of a match.
