Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Underwood Makes Seven Saves in Scoreless Draw Against Notre Dame

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. - Noah Underwood made seven saves to post a second consecutive clean sheet in net, as the West Liberty University men's soccer team tied Notre Dame, 0-0, this evening at West Family Athletic Complex.

The Hilltoppers move to 1-1-2 on the season with their second consecutive scoreless draw.

Notre Dame held the advantage in shots, 11-3 and 8-2 on goal, as well as corner kicks, 9-1. The Falcons controlled time of possession, but the stingy Hilltopper defense would not break.

On the offensive side, Rhys Lewis and Federico Murrau had the lone shots on goal. Both shots came in the first half.

Six of Underwood's seven saves came in the first half, while he continued to impact play throughout by disrupting crosses and commanding the Black and Gold defenders. The Hilltopper back line cleared out six Falcon corner kicks in the second half.

In the 59th minute, Vitor Otsuka had the best opportunity of the night for West Liberty as he broke past the Falcon defense. His shot missed just wide right of the goal.

West Liberty will start a four-game road trip on Sunday with a match at Alderson Broaddus. Kickoff from Philippi is scheduled for 4:30 pm.
