SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio - The West Liberty University men's soccer team finished a four-game stretch on the road with a match at Notre Dame College this afternoon. The Falcons controlled play from start to finish, taking down the Hilltoppers 5-0.
West Liberty was held to one shot in the match and it came in the 84th minute by
Mason Marnell, his first of the season.
The Falcons got off 30 shots, the most by any MEC team in a game this season, with 21 of them coming in the second half.
Notre Dame opened the scoring in the 21st minute and took a two-goal lead into the break with a 36th minute score. NDC continued the rout in the second half with its third goal two minutes in and extended the lead to five with goals in the 56th and 76th minute.
Colton Callen got his first start of the season in goal for the Black and Gold with
Noah Underwood sidelined after disqualification on Wednesday night in Wheeling. Callen made eight saves against 13 shots on goal.
24 Hilltoppers saw action with three making their season debuts on the pitch.
Each team had two yellow cards in the match, while Notre Dame was charged with double the amount of fouls (14-7).
West Liberty will be at West Family Athletic Complex for the first time since September 7 on Wednesday night at 7:30 pm.
