BUCKHANNON, W.Va. - The West Liberty University men's soccer team surrendered four second half goals to West Virginia Wesleyan resulting in a 5-1 loss on the road this evening.
Wesleyan found the net early with a 6th minute goal on the second shot of the game.
West Liberty went a man down in the 22nd minute after
Joseph Fonagy was carded out of the game.
The Hilltoppers were able to even the score just two minutes after the ejection.
Vitor Otsuka sent a free kick right off the head of
Danilo Tavares and over the outstretched Wesleyan keeper to tie the match.
The Bobcats took advantage of the 11 on 10 matchup in the second half with four goals. It started in the 52nd minute then they put the game out of reach with three goals over an eight minute span (61' - 69').
Shots went 17-6 in favor of Wesleyan, including an 11-2 lead on goal. Both Hilltopper shots on goal came in the first half.
Otsuka accounted for five of WLU's six shots.
West Liberty continues its road stretch with a midweek match at Wheeling on Wednesday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
