WHEELING, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's tennis team remained unbeaten in Mountain East Conference play here Saturday night with a 7-0 shutout of Davis & Elkins at the indoor courts in Wheeling Park.
Coach
Heather Gallagher's Hilltoppers (8-4, 4-0) swept all three doubles matches by identical 6-1 scores to take the doubles point and carried that momentum into singles play against the visiting Senators (3-4, 1-2).
Evelina Martirosyan notched a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles and
Emma Arnal didn't lose a game in posting back-to-back 6-0 whitewashes at the No. 2 spot.
At No. 3 singles,
Gemma Cliffe lost the first set by a 7-5 count but rebounded to take the next two sets by scores of 6-3 and 6-2 for the win.
Nathalia Valencia got a straight-set win at No. 4 singles in the match of the day with both sets going to tiebreakers.
Jacqueline Pena-Aceves had an easier time of it at No. 5 singles with a 6-1 6-1 win and
Ishika Agarwal made it a clean sweep with another 6-0 6-0 shutout at No. 6 singles.
