Another MEC Win for WLU Women's Tennis

    WHEELING, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's tennis team turned in another dominating performance here Saturday, coasting to a 6-1 win against West Virginia Wesleyan in Mountain East Conference action at the Wheeling Park indoor courts.
    Coach Heather Gallagher's Hilltoppers (5-2, 2-0) took control from the start, sweeping all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point.
    Emma Arnal and Daria Shchoma teamed up for a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles with Gemma Cliffe and Evelina Martirosyan breezing to a 6-2 nod in the No. 2 hole. It was all WLU at No. 3 doubles with Jacqueline Pena-Aceves and Nathalia Valencia teaming up for a 6-1 decision.
    West Liberty locked up the victory in singles play by taking five of the six matches. Martirosyan, Arnal, Cliffe, Valencia and Pena-Aceves all posted straight-set wins for the Black and Gold.
    The Hilltoppers step out of conference play on Tuesday for a 1 p.m. match against Mercyhurst (Pa.) out of the PSAC.
