WHEELING, W.Va. - The West Liberty University men's cross country team competed at the Mountain East Conference Championship this morning at Oglebay Resort's Crispin Golf Course. The Hilltoppers earned a fourth-place team finish and had two top-20 individuals.
Philip White made his first appearance since the season opener and raced to the top of the team leaderboard. He posted a 27:25.17 to claim a spot on second-team all-conference in 13th place out of 85 runners.
Danah Phillips dug deep late and crossed the line seven-tenths of a second ahead of Davis & Elkins' Jackson Gibson to earn one of the final spots on the all-conference team. Phililps ended with a time of 27:45.09 in 20th place.
Robert Allen, 
Brenden Sands, and 
Michael Harriman rounded out the scorers for West Liberty. Allen paced the trio with a 28:25 in 29th place, Sands followed nine spots and 25 seconds later, then Harriman crossed the line in 40th place with a 29:05.
The average time for the Black and Gold's 10 competitors was a 28:28.23.
Next on the docket is a trip to the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships in Mansfield, Pa in two weeks on November 19.
