#9 Charleston Overpowers Men's Soccer

TRIDELPHIA, W.Va. - The West Liberty University men's soccer team scored first but could not hold off nationally-ranked Charleston, dropping the match 6-1 inside the Highlands Sports Complex.

Vitor Otsuka connected with Danilo Tavares off a corner kick in the fifth minute to put the Hilltoppers ahead early. Tavares raced to the front post and a great entering pass from Otsuka met him there for the one-timer into the back of the net. The goal was his second of the season, the first Hilltopper to accomplish that mark this season.

The Golden Eagles evened the score in the 18th minute and never looked back. Five minutes later the lead was Charleston's. Out of the break, the WLU defense held until the 60th minute when UC rattled off four goals in an 18 minute span.

Charleston totaled 23 shots and 11 on goal, 15 of the shots came in the second half.

The Tavares goal ended up being the only shot on goal for WLU in the match, as they got off just three total shots. Daniel Rovira and Jamie Redmond had the other two shots in the 28th and 72nd minutes respectively.

The match was delayed and relocated to an 8:00 pm kickoff at the Highland Sports Complex due to inclement weather.
