BECKLEY, W.Va. - The West Liberty University women's soccer team lost, 7-0, this afternoon on the road at Concord. The match was delayed nearly an hour and a half due to lightning in the area.
The Hilltoppers fall to 4-9-1 overall and 3-8-1 in Mountain East Conference play, while Concord improves to 9-4-1 and 7-4-1 in conference.
From the start it was all Mountain Lions, as they netted an 8th minute goal to get on the board. Scores in the 26th and 37th minute made it 3-0 at the half. Concord had three goals in three minutes to quickly put the game out of reach in the middle of the second half, then finished the scoring in the 78th minute.
West Liberty was outshot 26-2 and 15-1 on goal.
Mia Zecca had the on goal shot in the 9th minute.
Maya Taggart put one wide left in the 74th minute for the only other attempt.
The seven scores were the most allowed by WLU this season after not allowing more than three goals in a match prior.
West Liberty will be back home for a pair of contests next week. First up is a Wednesday faceoff with Glenville State. Kickoff from West Family Athletic Complex is set for 5 pm.
