Women's Soccer Drops Match at Frostburg State

FROSTBURG, Md. - The West Liberty University women's soccer team dropped its third straight match tonight at Frostburg State, 3-1.

The Hilltoppers were held to just two shots for the second consecutive match and third time this season including the first match against Frostburg State. Mia Zecca had both shots for the Black and Gold and they were each on goal with one going in.

In the 54th minute, Zecca netted her first goal of the season to make it a one-score game with a sniper from just outside of the 18-yard box. Isabella Bankovich sent the ball to the top of the box and Isabella Aperfine tapped it back to Zecca who one-timed it to the top-left corner.

The Bobcats regained the two-goal advantage 14 minutes later and held on for the victory.

Frostburg State totaled 18 shots and put 10 on goal, 12 of which came in the first half. FSU got on the board in the 9th minute and again just before the half with a penalty kick goal in the 41st.

Zara Wickert made seven saves over another 90 minute stand in net for the Hilltoppers.

West Liberty heads to Concord for its next match on Sunday. Kickoff is slated for 1 pm.
