WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Seton Hill (Pa.) Thursday night in a non-conference season opener under the lights at the West Family Athletic Complex.
The only goal of the match came in the 21st minute when the Griffins' Victoria Rothrauff hammered home a spinning strike from nearly 30 yards out.
Coach
Barry Christmas' Hilltoppers battled back to create numerous scoring chances the rest of the night but couldn't find a way to solve SHU keeper Grace Kenyon. The Griffin netminder had a busy night but turned aside every one of the nine shots West Liberty put on frame to earn the shutout.
The Hilltoppers'
Kaitlyn Taylor kept the hosts in the game throughout, finishing with four saves for her night's work.
West Liberty returns to action on Wednesday with another non-conference test, hosting Salem University in a 5 p.m. kickoff.
