Hilltopper Soccer Drops 1-0 Road Decision

FROSTBURG, Md. – The West Liberty University men's soccer team surrendered an early goal Saturday and couldn't come up with the equalizer as Frostburg State held on for a 1-0 victory against the Black and Gold at Bobcat Stadium.
Malik Shedid finished off an assist from Randy Putnam ni the 14th minute to put the hosts on top and it proved to be the only score of the match.
Coach Sean Regan's Hilltoppers (2-2-0, 1-2-0) battled the Bobcats (2-0-1, 2-0-0) on even terms the rest of the way but weren't able to get a ball past FSU keeper Joel Assal, who made three saves to earn the shutout.
Frostburg finished the match with a slight edge in shots, 9-8, and corner kicks, 3-2, while West Liberty netminder Noah Underwood was also charted with three saves in a losing cause.
The Hilltoppers go back on the road Wednesday for a 1 p.m. match at Notre Dame (Ohio).
