WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The Mountain East Conference's flexible scheduling model has dealt up a winner for Ohio Valley football fans tonight as West Liberty hosts Wheeling in the Hilltoppers' spring home opener.
The Ohio County rivals are set for a 6 p.m. kickoff at West Family Stadium.
Although all West Liberty on-campus athletic events are closed to the general public this spring, parents from both teams will be admitted with photo ID. All COVID safety protocols will be enforced with masks and social distancing required. No tailgating in any form will be permitted.
With both teams bringing a 1-1 record into the game, tonight's rivalry game is also a battle for sole possession of second place in the Mountain East Conference's North Division.
The Black and Gold got back to the .500 mark in impressive fashion last week with a 38-6 blowout of Alderson Broaddus in Philippi.
The Cardinals are returning to the field for the first time since they notched their own runaway road win against the Battlers, 34-6, back on March 18.
Fans of the two teams can catch all the action on a live video stream through the MEC's BlueFrame platform in addition to live real-time game stats provided by the West Liberty University Sports Information Department.
