BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – West Liberty University senior guards
Olivia Belknap and
Audrey Tingle have been named to the 2020-21 All-Mountain East Conference women's basketball team.
Belknap was a first-team All-MEC selection while Tingle collected second-team All-MEC honors on Tuesday afternoon when the results of the league-wide voting by the women's basketball coaches were announced by the conference office.
Belknap, a 5-7 scoring ace from Dover, Ohio, leads the Hilltoppers in scoring and ranks among the top 10 scores in the MEC at 19.6 ppg. She scored 20 or more points in 11 of WLU's 16 games and went for 30 or more on three occasions. She earned MEC Player of the Week honors late last month when she scored a career-high 40 points and grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds in a win at Frostburg State.
The veteran sharpshooter ranks among the MEC's Top 10 in numerous offensive categories, including Points/Game (7
th, 19.6 ppg.), Field Goal Percentage (10
th, 104-228, .456), 3-Point Field Goal Percentage (10
th, 37-114, .325), Free Throw Percentage (3
rd, 68-85, .800), Field Goals/Game (2.31/game) and Total 3-Point Field Goals (37).
Tingle, a 5-6 point guard from West Lafayette, Ohio, not only leads the MEC in Assists (108) and Assists/Game (6.75/game) by a wide margin, she leads all active NCAA Division II women in Career Assists (632) and Career Assists/Game (6.26/game). The southpaw guard was also an MEC Player of the Week pick after posting a rare triple-double – 21 points, 14 rebounds, 11 assists – in a February win at Davis & Elkins.
In addition to her playmaking accomplishments, Tingle was West Liberty's leading rebounder and ranked sixth in the MEC with an average of 8.1 boards a night. The four-year starter just cracked the Top 10 on WLU's career rebounding list with 675 retrieves. Her 632 assists put her at No. 6 all-time on the hilltop.
Charleston guard Brooklyn Pannell was voted MEC Player of the Year with Fairmont State forward Alyssa DeAngelo earning MEC Freshman of the Year honors. First-year Charleston head coach Tianni Kelly was the MEC Coach of the Year.
The Hilltoppers will open the MEC Tournament quarterfinals on Thursday when they take on No. 18-ranked Glenville State in an 11 a.m. tipoff at WesBanco Arena.
