Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

6 Straight Wins for No. 22 West Liberty Men

FROSTBURG, Md. – The No. 22-ranked West Liberty men's basketball team  breezed to its sixth straight win here Saturday, hammering Frostburg State, 128-75, in Mountain East Conference action at Bobcat Arena.
Coach Ben Howlett's Hilltoppers (10-3) opened up a double-digit lead midway through the first half and never eased off the pace in cracking the century mark for the fifth time in the last six games.
The host Bobcats made things interesting for the first few minutes and actually held an early lead, 18-16, following a Sean Patterson layup at 12:47 of the opening half.
West Liberty's Dalton Bolon answered with a 3-point bomb at the other end and the Black and Gold outscored Frostburg by a 48-20 margin over the final 12 minutes of the half to take an insurmountable 64-38 advantage into the halftime locker room.
The margin grew steadily over the final 20 minutes, stretching as high as 55 points coming down the stretch.
Bolon, who had passed the 2,000-point milestone a week ago during a win at Notre Dame, led the way with 31 points and 12 rebounds – both game-highs – despite seeing only 20 minutes of game action. The 31 points vaulted Bolon past 2013 NCAA Division II National Player of the Year Alex Falk into fifth place on WLU's career scoring list with 2,039 points.
The two-time All-American had plenty of support on Saturday as every Hilltopper who donned a jersey cracked the scoring column. Freshman shooting ace Zach Rasile went 5-for-7 from the 3-point arc and tossed in a career-high 17 points while returning All-MEC juniors Pat Robinson III and Will Yoakum finished with 15 and 13 points, respectively, in limited minutes.
Marlon Moore Jr. made a run at a double-double with 11 points and 8 rebounds while Bryce Butler added a dozen points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists to round out the double figure scorers.
Agyei Edwards topped Frostburg State with 16 points – all in the first half – while Canaan Bartley had 12 points and Jaylon Johnson went for 10 more in a losing cause.
It's a quick turnaround for the Hilltoppers as they head back out on the road Monday night for a 6 p.m. tipoff at Davis & Elkins.
