FROSTBURG, Md. – The West Liberty University volleyball team breezed to its third straight win here Friday night, sweeping a Mountain East Conference match from Frostburg State at Bobcat Arena.
Coach
Riley Schenk's Hilltoppers (3-1) put the host Bobcats (0-2) on the defensive from the start with an early blitz.
The Black and Gold dominated the opening set from the opening serve for a 25-14 win and took complete command with a dominating 25-9 victory in the second set.
Frostburg State mounted a stiffer challenge in the third set but a strong finish by the Hilltoppers completed the sweep with a 25-22 verdict.
Senior All-MEC middle blocker Maddie Clayton had another big night, hammering home a match-high 11 kills in 19 attacks for a sparkling .579 hitting percentage. The 6-5 veteran also lent a formidable presence at the net with 3 blocks.

Kaija Sydlowski backed Clayton with 8 kills with
Nina Billotto contributing 6 kills. Senior setter
Renee Lemke posted another double-double with 21 assists and 13 digs while fellow senior
Emily Reedy led all players with a match-high 19 digs. Freshman
Nyia Setla also hit double figures with a dozen digs.
West Liberty will get an opportunity to avenge its only loss of the young season on Tuesday when the Hilltoppers host Notre Dame (Ohio) in a 7 p.m. match inside the ASRC.
