WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The No. 4-ranked West Liberty University wrestling team will be going up against some of the top NCAA Division II squads in the nation on Saturday when Coach Danny Irwin's Hilltoppers compete in the inaugural Carolina Clash Duals.
Hosted by Lander University in Greenwood, S.C., the Carolina Clash has attracted a star-studded field and the Black and Gold will run into more than their share at the prestigious event.
Highlighting the list of opponents for the Hilltoppers is defending national champion St. Cloud State (Minn.). Ranked No. 2 in the latest NWCA coaches' poll, the Huskies enter the tournament riding an NCAA Division II-record 70-dual match winning streak.
Also taking the mat against West Liberty on Saturday will be No. 18 UNC-Pembroke, unranked Mount Olive (N.C.) and host Lander (S.C.), which was among teams receiving votes in the NWCA Top 25.
Video streaming won't be available for the massive event but Hilltopper fans will be able to follow the WLU matches online via TrackWrestling at the following link: West Liberty @ Carolina Clash!
