PHILIPPI, W.Va. – The West Liberty University men's soccer team stumbled out of the blocks here Wednesday night and never recovered as host Alderson Broaddus pulled away to a 4-0 win in a Mountain East Conference North Division match.
The Battlers (4-6-0, 3-5-0) jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead just 98 seconds after the opening kickoff when Andreas Rossak set up Julian Trapp for the first goal of the game. Trapp added another goal off a Rossak assist in the 22nd minute and Alderson Broaddus carried a 2-0 lead into the break.
Coach
Sean Regan's Hilltoppers (4-6-0, 3-6-0) couldn't establish any offensive momentum in the final 45 minutes and the Battlers added two more goals to complete the scoring.
The road doesn't get any easier for the Black and Gold on Sunday as they travel to Charleston to take on the defending national champion Golden Eagles. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
