GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State scored a golden goal two minutes into the second overtime period here Wednesday night to edge West Liberty, 1-0, in a Mountain East Conference North Division match at Morris Stadium.
     It was the second consecutive victory for the host Pioneers (3-12-0, 2-11-0), who had snapped a 12-match losing streak with a 2-1 win at Wheeling on Saturday. The hard-luck Hilltoppers (6-6-3, 5-5-3) slipped to third place in the MEC North with their third consecutive setback.
     Neither team scored during 90 minutes of regulation and the game remained deadlocked through the first 10-minute period of extra time. Glenville's Merel Smets won possession of a loose ball inside the six and one-timed it into the left side of the cage for the game-winner.
     The host Pioneers outshot WLU by a 14-9 margin on the night and had a 7-3 edge in shots on goal. Kaitlyn Taylor had six saves in net for the Hilltoppers with Glenville's Jasmine Runk making three stops to earn the shutout for the hosts.
     The West Liberty women will look to rebound on Sunday when they travel to West Virginia Wesleyan for a 3 p.m. match.
