WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – Frostburg State scored two goals in a 45-second span late in the first half to hand West Liberty a 3-1 setback here Wednesday night in Mountain East Conference women's soccer action at the West Family Athletic Complex.
The match, which pitted the top two teams in the MEC North Division, got off to a fast start when the division-leading Bobcats (10-2-1, 9-1-1) scored on a 20-yard laser off the foot of Alexis Pate barely four minutes after the opening kickoff.

Barry Christmas' Hilltoppers (6-4-3, 5-3-3) equalized in the 27th minute when they won possession near midfield and launched a quick counterstrike. Bella Aperfine got the ball to
Ellie Cunningham near the top of the 18 and Cunningham spun between a pair of defenders to hammer one home from 10 yards out.
Frostburg went ahead to stay in the 39th minute on a Mackenzie Alonso goal and made it 3-1 in the 40th minute with a goal from Carolina Burton.
The Bobcats outshot the hosts by a 16-7 margin on the night and held a significant 11-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Olivia Montgomery had 8 saves in net for the Black and Gold.
West Liberty faces another tough test on Saturday when unbeaten MEC South Division frontrunner Concord comes to the West Family Athletic Complex. Kickoff for WLU's Senior Day match is set for 3:30 p.m.
