WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University men's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision to Notre Dame (Ohio) here Saturday with the visitors from Ohio scoring twice in the waning minutes to seal the deal.
Coach
Sean Regan's Hilltoppers (4-5-0, 3-5-0) found themselves trying to climb out of a 2-0 hole at intermission as the Falcons (5-2-0, 5-2-0) broke up a scoreless tie with goals from Ailton Fagner Silva and Lukas Hackaa in the last 15 minutes of the period.
West Liberty wasted no time getting back in the match when play resumed as
Liam Toman finished off an assist from Danilo Taveres less than 90 seconds into the second half to trim the deficit to 2-1.
Unfortunately for the Hilltoppers, they were unable to break through the stingy Notre Dame defense again and the Falcons put the match on ice with goals from Ned Dry and Hackaa coming down the stretch.
The West Liberty men will look to get back on track Wednesday night when they travel to Philippi, W.Va for a 7:30 p.m. match against Alderson Broaddus.
