Box Score WASHINGTON, Pa. – The West Liberty University men's tennis team closed out its fall schedule in dominating fashion here Friday afternoon, powering its way to a 9-0 shutout of Washington & Jefferson at the Janet Swanson Tennis Center.
Coach Ron Hulewicz's Hilltoppers (2-0) didn't lose a game in any of the nine matches in making a clean sweep of the host Presidents (1-4).
West Liberty got off to a quick start, breezing to the doubles point with three 8-0 victories. Isfan Makhumudov and
Daisuke Aota prevailed at No. 1 doubles with
Moritz Erpel and
Nevio Dux taking care of business at No. 2 doubles.
Alfonso Zerpa and
Zarion Jones got the win at No. 3 doubles.
Erpel, Aota, Dux, Jones and Zerpa followed up with 6-0 6-0 straight-set wins in singles play with
Anton Schulz applying the coup de grace at No. 1 singles.
