WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University volleyball team rolled to its fourth straight win here Friday night, pulling away to a 3-1 victory against Urbana in Mountain East Conference action at the ASRC.
Coach Kayla Fetsko-Mull's Hilltoppers (7-8, 1-0) spotted the Blue Knights (6-8, 0-2) an early lead when Urbana won the opening set by a 25-16 count but WLU stormed back to sweep the next three sets – 25-21, 25-20 and 25-18 – to close out the match.
Raimey Benson and Stephanie Leonard each had a dozen kills to pace the Black and Gold while
Michaela Hawkins added 7 kills and 8 blocks. Amanda Leonard and Miranda Garmenn each posted double-doubles. Leonard had 26 assists and 11 digs while Garmenn finished with 12 assists and 10 digs.
Courtney Pyeritz and Alexis Boyd had a dozen digs each.
West Liberty returns to action on Saturday morning when the Hilltoppers host Notre Dame (Ohio) in an 11 a.m. match at the ASRC.
