Box Score 2 MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The West Liberty University softball came up short in back-to-back games here Monday at Buccaneer Field on the campus of Barry University.

Herb Minch's Hilltoppers (6-7) were edged, 2-1, by Kutztown (Pa.) in the first of their two games before seeing a late rally fall short in a 7-4 loss to host Barry.
In the first game, Kutztown's Alyssa Donato snapped a 1-1 tie with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth and the Golden Bears (7-5) made that one-run lead stand up the rest of the way.
Katie Beeman had staked WLU to a 1-0 lead with an RBI single to score
Allie Cook in the top of the first. Cook had a pair of singles for the Black and Gold while
Kate Meloun doubled and singled in a losing cause.
In the second game, the Buccaneers (14-17) seemed to have things well in hand as they cruised into the seventh inning with a 7-0 lead but West Liberty didn't go quietly.
A single, an error and a double steal broke up the shutout bid and the Hilltoppers went on to load the bases with two out. Beeman cleared the bases with a three-run double into the right centerfield gap but was cut down on the bases to end the game.
Beeman had another multi-hit game, chasing home three runs with the double and another single. Meloun also contributed two more singles for the Black and Gold.
West Liberty closes out its Florida trip on Tuesday with a doubleheader at Lynn University in Boca Raton.
