WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – Notre Dame (Ohio) banged home a pair of first-half goals and the West Liberty men's soccer team couldn't battle back here Thursday as WLU came out on the short end of a 3-0 tally under the lights at the West Family Athletic Complex.
Coach
Sean Regan's youthful Hilltoppers (0-4-0, 0-4-0) were able to weather the storm for much of the first half only to see the Falcons (2-2-0, 2-1-0) break the scoring ice with a 25-yard laser off the foot of Varis Khera in the 29th minute.
Ned Dry finished off an assist from Giulio Bellei in the 35th minute and the visitors took a 2-0 lead into intermission.
The only scoring in the final 45 minutes was a Falcon goal from Evans Armak off a penalty kick as the visitors kept the Black and Gold off the scoreboard.
Daniele De Angelis made his only save of the night in the second half to seal the shutout win for Notre Dame.
Noah Underwood had 4 saves in net for the Hilltoppers.
The West Liberty men return to action on Saturday when they travel to Urbana for a 6:30 p.m. game.
