    CANTON, Ohio – The West Liberty women close out their pre-holiday slate this afternoon with another non-conference test at Malone. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. at Osborne Hall.

    Coach Kyle Cooper's Hilltoppers (5-6) dropped their third straight on Wednesday as a talented Malone squad took control early in a 96-72 triumph. Corinne Thomas and Taylor Johnson tossed in 13 points each for the Black and Gold.
    The Pioneers (7-3) have bounced back from a sub-.500 start by reeling off five straight wins – four of them on the road – capped by a 79-58 blowout at Tiffin on Monday. Holly Groff tallied a game-high 23 points to pace the resurgent squad.
    This is the seventh meeting between the two programs but it's the first in nearly three decades. Malone holds a 4-2 lead in the brief series.
    The Lady Pioneers handed West Liberty a 78-70 loss in the last matchup, which came in a Christmas tournament during the 1990-91 season.
