WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's soccer team blanked Mountain East Conference North Division leader for 110 minutes here Sunday but couldn't find the goal themselves as the teams played to a scoreless draw after two overtime periods at the West Family Athletic Complex.
Coach
Barry Christmas's Hilltoppers (2-6-4, 2-3-4) outshot the front-running Falcons (7-4-2, 6-2-2) by a 9-8 margin and put five of those nine shots on goal while Fairmont was able to get just two of their eight attempts on frame.
In the end, however, neither team could find the net as West Liberty keeper
Olivia Montgomery and Falcon netminder Taylor Kennedy each walked off the pitch with a clean sheet. Montgomery was credited with two saves in notching her fifth shutout of the season while Kennedy turned aside five Hilltopper shots for her seventh shutout.
The West Liberty women hit the road on Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. match under the lights at Frostburg State.
