Box Score ELKINS, W.Va. – The West Liberty University volleyball team got off to a slow start and couldn't battle all the way back here Friday night as Davis and Elkins held on for a 3-1 win in Mountain East Conference action at the McDonnell Center.
The host Senators (11-5, 5-1) took control early with 25-22 and 25-18 wins in the first two sets. Coach
Kayla Mull's Hilltoppers (10-11, 2-4) stopped the bleeding momentarily with a 25-22 victory in the third set but Davis and Elkins never trailed in the fourth set, wrapping things up with another 25-18 win.
Caitlin Clarke had a big match in defeat for the Black and Gold with a dozen kills and a match-high .417 hitting percentage. Freshman
Nina Billotto made a run at a double-double with 8 kills and 9 digs while senior
Mackenzie Sims also impressed with 6 kills and a match-high 28 digs.
Renee Lemke and
Kirsten Bogunovich turned in 19 and 15 assists, respectively.
Coach Mull and her Hilltoppers head to Buckhannon on Saturday for an afternoon match against West Virginia Wesleyan.
