CANTON, Ohio – The West Liberty University volleyball team snapped a 4-match losing streak in decisive fashion here Tuesday night, running away to a 3-1 non-conference road win against Malone University at Osborne Hall.
The Pioneers (6-9) held off a late rally by the Hilltoppers (7-8) to pull out a 25-22 win in the opening set but it was all West Liberty the rest of the way. Coach
Kayla Mull's visitors took control of the match with wins of 25-23 and 25-21 in the next two sets before wrapping things up, 25-17, in a dominant fourth-set performance.
Freshman
Alissa Dickson led the way with a double-double of 13 kills and 16 digs while Maddie Clayton added a dozen kills.
Kendall Souder just missed a double-double with 23 assists and 9 digs while senior
Kailee Cunningham had 3 service aces and led all players with 33 digs.
The Lady Hilltoppers return to MEC action this weekend with a Friday night match at Frostburg State before heading to Fairmont State on Saturday.
