CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The West Liberty University women's tennis team had no trouble coasting to a 6-1 win against California (Pa.) Saturday afternoon in a non-conference match at Roadman Park.
Coach
Heather Gallagher's Hilltoppers opened their first dual match of the fall with a clean sweep of the Vulcans (2-2) in the three doubles matches to come away with the doubles point.
Chloe Riley and
Laura Huwe teamed up for a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles while Raissa Wagner and Luisa Agudelo taking a 6-2 nod in the No. 2 doubles match. Anita Ponti and Carleyah McLean breezed to a 6-3 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Riley, Ponti, Huwe, Agudelo and McLean followed their doubles success up with straight-set wins in singles play to close out the Lady Hilltoppers' impressive debut.
The West Liberty women return home to host the Lady Hilltopper Invitational Saturday and Sunday at the Edgar Martin Tennis Complex.
