WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University volleyball team breezed to a 3-0 sweep of Fairmont State here Friday night in a mutual Mountain East Conference opener at the ASRC.

Kayla Mull's Hilltoppers (10-3, 1-0) took charge from the start with a 25-20 win in the opening set and used a 10-0 run early in the second set to coast to a 25-17 verdict in the second set. The Falcons (4-7, 0-1) were unable to extend the match in the third set as West Liberty finished strong with a 25-22 win to complete the sweep.
Olivia Baumhoer led the Black and Gold with a match-high 10 kills while
Caitlin Clarke and
Raimey Benson added 8 and 7 kills, respectively.
Amanda Leonard just missed a double-double with 16 assists and 9 digs while
Kendall Souder led all players with 20 assists.
Kailee Cunningham had a match-high 17 digs and
Madison Clayton led all players with 6 blocks.
The Hilltoppers will be back in the ASRC on Saturday afternoon for a 1 p.m. match with Shepherd.
