TORONTO, Ont. – Slan Sports Management announced today that former West Liberty University All-American
Seger Bonifant will be returning to Ehingen Urspring of the German Pro A League for the second consecutive season.
The two-time NCAA Division II National Player of the Year was an honorable mention All-League selection last winter in his first season with the German squad. He played in all 30 games, averaging more than 28 minutes a night, while contributing 12.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists.
A 6-7 forward with a deadly perimeter touch, Bonifant also ranked among the German Pro A League's top three from the 3-point arc and the foul line, draining 64-of-131 (.489) bonus bombs and going 36-of-40 (.900) from the charity stripe.
Ehingen Urspring will feature a pair of Hilltopper All-Americans this season as the team announced earlier this month that recent WLU graduate
Dan Monteroso - the 2017-18 NCAA Division II Academic All-American of the Year - had signed to begin his pro career with coach Domenik Reinboth and the German team.
This will be Bonifant's third professional season in Europe. He made his professional debut with Club Baloncesto Clavijo of the Spanish LEB Gold League during the 2016-17 season. Bonifant averaged nearly 10 points a game and ranked among the league's top 10 3-point shooters before moving on to the German Pro A League last year.
"I'm really excited to get back to Ehingen and get back to work with Coach Dom and all the guys," Bonifant said. "I have big goals for this season and can't wait to get started."
The German Pro A League tips off in late September and runs through March. The 30-game slate is played primarily on weekends with playoffs beginning in April.
