WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – Regionally-ranked Fairmont State jumped out to an early lead and the West Liberty University men's tennis team couldn't recover in an 8-1 setback Sunday afternoon at the Edgar Martin Tennis Complex.
Coach
Sam McCullough's Hilltoppers (6-6, 2-2) found themselves in a 3-0 hole heading into single play after the Falcons (10-7, 4-0) swept all three doubles matches. West Liberty picked up a win at No. 4 singles but the visitors prevailed in the other five singles matches to remain unbeaten in MEC play.
Vincent Huynh continued his strong play for the Black and Gold as the impressive freshman shook off a tiebreaker loss to Joao Martins in the second set of their No. 4 singles match to earn the Hilltoppers' lone point of the day with a 10-6 nod in the third set.
The Hilltoppers step out of conference play on Tuesday for a 3 p.m. match at Davis & Elkins.
