WLU Men's Tennis Steamrolls Past Concord

    HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The No. 4-seeded West Liberty University men's tennis team rolled to a 5-0 shutout of No. 5-seeded Concord here Friday in a Mountain East Conference Tournament quarterfinal at Marshall University's David Fox Tennis Complex.
    Coach Sam McCullough's Hilltoppers advance to take on top-seeded and regionally-ranked West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday in an 11 a.m. tournament semifinal. The Bobcats went undefeated in MEC regular season play this spring and are currently ranked No. 3 in the Atlantic Region.
    West Liberty took control early in doubles action as Luke Flanagan and Vincent Huynh sprinted off to an 8-0 victory at No. 3 doubles. Nick Liddy and Matt Lynch followed with an 8-2 romp at No. 2 doubles before Camilo Moncayo and Daniel Nogareda finished off the sweep with an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles.
    Huynh pushed the lead to 4-0 with a dominant 6-2 6-0 victory against Alfonso Jiminez in their No. 4 singles match and Flanagan brought down the curtain minutes last with a 6-1 6-2 decision against Adam Tolliver.
    The remaining singles matches were halted in progress after WLU clinched the win.
