WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University men's tennis team remained unbeaten in Mountain East Conference play Monday afternoon with an 8-1 romp past Shepherd at the Edgar Martin Tennis Complex.
Coach
Sam McCullough's Hilltoppers (6-4, 2-0) took command early by sweeping all three doubles matches and followed that up by taking five of the six singles matches from the visiting Rams (8-6, 3-1).
Camilo Moncayo and Daniel Nogareda delivered the biggest win of the day by handing Shepherd's Carter Davis and Evan Dokken a 9-7 loss at No. 1 doubles.
Nick Liddy and Matt Lynch followed with an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles and when Luke Flanagan and Vincent Huynh posted an 8-1 verdict in their No. 3 doubles match, the Hilltoppers were on their way.
Nogareda, Liddy, Huynh, Lynch and Flanagan all posted straight-set wins in singles action to wrap things up.
The West Liberty men step out of conference play on Wednesday for a 3 p.m. match at Cedarville (Ohio).
