FAIRMONT, W.Va. – The West Liberty University men's tennis team rolled to an 8-1 victory against Concord on Wednesday afternoon in a Mountain East Conference match played at Fairmont State University.
Coach
Sam McCullough's Hilltoppers (8-7, 3-2) jumped on the Mountain Lions (2-7, 2-2) early by sweeping all three doubles matches and coasted to the lop-sided win.
Daniel Nogareda and Nick Liddy teamed up for an 8-5 victory at No. 1 doubles with Luke Flanagan and Vincent Huynh pitching an 8-0 shutout in their No. 2 doubles match. Zach Kirkwood and Matt Lynch took the nod at No. 3 doubles by an 8-3 count.
Nogareda, Liddy, Huynh, Lynch and Flanagan followed up with singles wins as the Black and Gold moved back above the .500 mark in MEC play.
West Liberty returns home to host regionally-ranked West Virginia Wesleyan on Friday. Doubles action gets under way at 3 p.m. at the Edgar Martin Tennis Complex.
