West Liberty Men's Tennis Clips Cavaliers

    WISE, Va. – The West Liberty University men's tennis team opened its Mountain East Conference schedule with a 6-3 win against UVa-Wise here Saturday at the Jim and Betty Humphrey's Tennis Complex.
    Coach Sam McCullough's Hilltoppers (5-4, 1-0) grabbed the early momentum with a 2-1 edge in the doubles matches before taking four of six singles decisions to lock up the win.
    Luke Flanagan and Vincent Huynh continued their strong doubles play with an 8-4 win at the No. 2 spot while Hayden Blazer and Zach Kirkwood coasted to an 8-2 victory in the No. 3 slot.
    Camilo Moncayo and Nick Liddy picked up straight-set wins for the Black and Gold at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, while Blazer and Flanagan didn't lose a game in sweeping their No. 5 and 6 singles matches at love.
    A busy week continues Monday for the Hilltoppers as they return home to host Shepherd in a 3 p.m. match at the Edgar Martin Tennis Complex.
